Client: Vestas
I 2007 Vestas Denmark decided to build a new R&D facility near Aarhus. A total of 11 departments and more than 500 employees were moved from different locations and departments to the new office building in 2008. WizArts Inc. was hired to develop an interactive platform which supported the creation of a creative and innovative organization and climate. The solution encompassed seven applications:
- People - Interactive employee portal
- Wayfinder - Interactive guide for finding way
- Mapping - Live tracking via RFID tags
- Output - Live data visualization of windmill productivity
- Stealth Learning - a platform for knowledge creation and sharing
- Timeline - company history with videos and audio
- Media - Information about what is on?
All of the applications were created with a focus on usability and design. 28 touch screens were placed throughout the building.


People
Do you have a clear overview over all the different competences in the organization? Do you know what are the interests of the employees and what their backgrounds are, what drives them and what would encourage them further to collaborate across departments? Most managers would like to know the answers to those questions without having to go through surveys or employee interviews.
The People application offers a new visual solution to this challenge, making voluntary information about knowledge, competences and interests visible to all. This facilitates collaboration and personal relations across the organization, thus removing one of the significant barriers to innovation and knowledge sharing.
Employees maintain their own profiles in the application much like on the popular social networking sites. Colleagues can search on a number of criteria i.e. education, experience, and interests - work-related as well as private. This allows managers to gain a quick overview of available internal resources.
The People application runs on interactive touch screens placed strategically throughout the building or area covered. It can be integrated with the company intranet and customized to meet your needs in full.







Wayfinder

Time is always of the essence and being late is not an option. Wayfinder is a revolutionary system that will guide you to where you need to be, in an easy and intuitive way. The system adapts to specific needs and can be supplemented with location-based user information. The application tracks different user behaviors - allowing you to steadily improve service levels and user interaction.
